So a few months ago in November 2019 I (18F) met this guy (20M) off of Tinder. I don’t have much experience in dating so after three dates that went well, I asked him to be my boyfriend. That might of been too soon but I guess it doesn’t matter now. He declined and said he needed more time. His reasons were pretty much mental health related. I tried to be understanding but looking back, I really should of stopped things there. We were both obviously looking for different things, but I found him so attractive that it didn’t matter.
After that, we continued to hang out more. I think what sucked the most was that there were no limits. We agreed that we were in this weird gray area, not fwb, but it still felt like an actual relationship to me. He would say things like “I love you”, “I have a lot of romantic feelings for you”, etc. And then quarantine began. We still talked to each other a lot over text so it didn’t weaken our bond until now.
Two weeks ago, he was again telling me how much he loved me and how close he felt to me. And now only two days ago, he said he didn’t feel the same anymore. I feel so hurt. How can you tell someone that you love them only to change your mind not even a month later? Maybe it’s the pandemic that finally started to weaken our bond, but I don’t know. We’re friends now at least, but again, things are so difficult to me. The fact that he easily got over me that quickly hurts. In a way, I was expecting this because we weren’t even official in the first place, but I have to admit that a part of me hoped that would one day change.
Overall, I feel dumb. This never was a real relationship in the first place, but I feel the same amount of pain anyways. How do I get over this?
