How to introduce a guy to your friends when they have different political views

To start, I am 24f and my boyfriend is 27m. We just started dating and getting serious, and it’s clear to both of us that despite our political differences (I lean more moderate-democrat and he is more conservative), we have undeniable chemistry and the same family values. For me, I grew up in a family with divided political views between my parents, so I think I was raised to stay true to what you believe in, debate respectfully, and listen to others without letting it sacrifice relationships (unless the person is actually a straight up bigot because, sorry, can’t work through it). The 2016 election proved to be a hard test for me on that, but I definitely learned a lot. That being said, we’ve done a pretty good job so far about how to handle discussions surrounding politics.

I am, however, getting nervous about the idea of introducing him to my friends this upcoming month, most of whom are passionate liberals and have even had discussions about how they could never date someone who voted for Trump. While his social media isn’t political, I’m worried if my friends start following him he might share something to his stories that offends one of them and it opens up a whole can of worms. My last relationship was with a guy who really didn’t have a political affiliation at all so I never really had to worry about something like this. I want to have a conversation with him ahead of time, but I don’t want to make it seem like I’m embarrassed of him or trying to change who he is. I am also uneasy at the thought of having to explain anything about his beliefs to my friends and defending why I choose to date him, because even though the thought sounds ridiculous I don’t doubt that they would be bold enough to question us a little.

So in conclusion, looking for advice on how to make the relationship between him and my friends work, because both relationships are very important to me and I don’t want to have serious conflicts.
