Hi everybody. I was wondering if anybody knew of any alternatives to dating apps for meeting people in this age of social distancing. I recently upgraded my zoom setup to have actually usable audio and video quality and I’d like to give dating another shot. I came to the conclusion that the popular dating apps(tinder, bumble, hinge, cmb, okc, etc.) weren’t particularly healthy for me so I’m looking for other ways to connect with people that would be more natural while still not violating social distancing.
Some background:
About a month before the pandemic hit, I vowed to never use dating apps again. Dating apps were a mixed bag for me. I would get an ok amount of matches and I had plenty of fascinating conversations with the girls I met, I even went on a moderate amount of first dates. The problem was that I never really connected with the people well enough to advance to second dates and the whole process of using dating apps was extremely mentally exhausting for me. I dont know if there was something I was doing wrong on those first dates, or if those people and I were just incompatible. Regardless, I determined that dating apps were too stressful for me and I decided that going forward I would try to meet people organically to develop natural relationships. Then COVID struck and suddenly meeting people at school or in group activities became impossible.
Any advice would be appreciated.
