I [23M] have problems communicating my feelings to the woman I love. How do I change this?
So I have never been good at communicating with anyone. I always think that I need to be interesting for people to like me, and if I don’t have anything interesting to say I feel like no one would want to hear it. And I’ve never been good at expressing my feelings, because I have felt people wouldn’t want to know what they are, as I haven’t really been asked about them much before.
This has resulted in me pushing away the woman (30) I love and wanted to have a future with. She is one of the only people I have truly felt I could be myself around, and I am so upset that I have ruined our relationship. I love her so much, and I miss every moment that we are apart. She told me she wants me to communicate with her more, and to tell her what I want and what I am feeling. She is one of the only people who has ever asked how I’m feeling. However, whenever I try to communicate, it doesn’t come across well, as I just struggle with communicating what I am thinking and feeling.
I also have a very bad problem where I assume I know what people are thinking, and I have done that a lot with her as well. Understandably, this also caused issues in our relationship.
I know that I have almost certainly pushed her away and that she won’t want to be with me anymore. So I want advice on how to improve my communication in the future, for all relationships that I could have. And also any advice about how to stop myself thinking I know what other people are thinking would be great as well.
I just don’t want this to happen again, and the only way I know how to do this is to become better at communicating, and I don’t know how to do that.
Thanks
