I can’t understand

Hi my name is Matthew and I am 18. I really don’t know what is wrong with me and I’d like some help to identify my key problems. I’ve matched with many girls on dating sites and the like but the conversations are for the most part, really one sided, and sometimes I try and start a conversation but I never get a response from them at all. Whenever I do get a response, I try and ask about how their day or week is going or what they like to do whenever they have free time. I sometime get good responses but others are generally lackluster. Most of the time it’s usually just one word. I’m really getting to the point where I don’t see a point in it at all considering how everything I do results in the same ending and it just seems easier to give up.
