I [F/24] love him because of who he is, but he [M/24] loves me because I love him..

We've been together for 4 years, very normal relationship. Not a lot of fights, not a lot of drama. Both level-headed and suit each other's personality well. In-short, we're a good match.

I love him because he has everything I'll ever ask for in a guy — gentle, warm, good-natured, no vices, thinks logically in every situation, very attractive too. He is someone I'd love to be with in the long run.

For years that we've been together, once in a while I would ask him what he loves about me, and for years his answer remained the same – that he loves me because I love him.

When we have these conversations, I tell him the things about him that makes me love him so much, but he never said anything lovely about me in return.

Which makes me think – is there nothing about me that makes him stay, just the fact that I love him and that gives him comfort? I know that's far from the truth, but does he not acknowledge me as a unique individual, with unique traits and personality, that makes me worthy of his love? If, by any chance, another woman comes in and shows him some greater lovin', would he choose to be with her instead?

I asked him exactly that this morning, told him what I've been feeling all these years. He said yeah that makes sense, he probably just didn't know the proper words to say that's why, but he didn't want to talk about it further.

This upsets me because all these years I wanted to hear that to him I am more than just "someone who loves him", because that's not all there is to love about me and I know that. This is making me insecure and makes me question why he's stayed with me all this time.

Am I wrong for feeling this way?
