I have been online dating for 3 years – My date last night really keeps me thinking

To start off, I'm a 21 year-old-girl and I'm living in a country really far away from home. I have a rule of not dating people that I have connection with such as friends, friends of friends or co-workers, as I fear it will be awkward if things are over. Hence, online dating is currently my go to.

I started online dating since I was 18. Three years seem like a long time but I only met 5 guys. At the time I didn't consider it a serious thing, but more like a "to get experience" kind of thing. I simply wanted to know what it is like. So to conclude my experience, I have been hurt (I was young and didn't see red flags/ didn't knew that I was being used) and catfished (the guy turned out to be decent but I don't want a relationship based on a lie). Plus with my abusive ex boyfriend, one can say that I have bad dating experience and don't really know how it is like to be treated right.

So last night, I went out with a guy who I thought was genuinely nice. Before we went out, he actually suggested places to go and things to do, the kind you would expect a date to be like. He also picked me up from my place and drove me back home, even though we live about 30 mins drive away from each other, plus the place we were going to was nearer to his house. I was surprised. That was the first time, someone ever does that. He was also excited about meeting and we texted a lot prior to the date. So I didn't know if he was actually interested in me or this is how I should have always been treated. The date went well, we talked a lot and there were a lot of teasing. Kissing led to making out and then sex. I know, not ideal for the first time meeting, but we were both in the mood. After that, he drove me to another place to chill and even suggested to get some food. But I told him to drive me home as he has work the next day. So he dropped me off at home, thanked me for the night and said he will see me next time. I asked him to text me once he's home. After he texted me, I texted back "Goodnight" and got no answer since then.

So yeah, your girl is a bit confused. All and all, it was a good experience for me. Of course I would never contact him again if he doesn't reach out to me. But I feel like if he just wanted a hook up, he shouldn't have acted like he was excited and treated it like a date. I wouldn't mind if it was clear since the beginning. It's the instant complete change that gets to me. I'm also starting to think that may be it's me who is the problem and I, myself, am why I have bad dating experience.

Not sure what I want to achieve writing this, guess I just need to vent out my thoughts to feel better.
