If someone expresses how they feel, patiently wait and listen to what they’re saying before you formulate your reply. You don’t know how much the other person went through to prepare in expressing their emotions. Some of us have a hard time doing that.
This weekend I told someone I was casually dating how I felt and how I wanted to proceed. I carefully chose my words, wrote them down, rehearsed, edited and rehearsed. When I did express them he interrupted me midway. Not in the malicious way or rude way, I don’t think he knew that I would have preferred he just listen. It was 4 sentences total, In case you guys are wondering.
Summary: take a moment to listen, you’ll have your turn to express how you feel.
