For context we’re both in our mid-late twenties and have been casually seeing each other as FWB. Over time I (the guy) have developed feelings for her and she kinda always had them for me as well.
Fast forward 6 or 7 months I finally have the talk with her about potentially being my girlfriend. She said she also had interest from another guy she also liked but despite that about a week later, we were hiking and towards the end I ask her officially and she kinda just went silent. On the way home I asked if she was going to answer and basically said she’s still waiting on this other guy.
I feel hurt because it sounds like I’m just option number two or her last choice when I actually started out as her first choice.
The whole ride home was awkward and now I kind of just don’t even want to talk to her. I’m just so tired of always being everyone’s last choice and never anyone’s first. Even if she did get declined by the other guy…what does that make me?
