unpopular opinion time:
If you don’t like being ghosted, say that upfront. It will save you time but it won’t necessarily prevent ghosting. As everyone who complains about ghosting – COMMUNICATE and be upfront about what you are looking for. If they ghost you, cool. There are other, better folks out there.
I keep seeing posts about communication and not being rude and other things. I suppose I’m the 30 year old asshole that isn’t considerate of others feelings. If a person ghosted you it’s not because they’re lazy and inconsiderate, I think for the most part it’s just that they don’t care. That’s the hard truth: you don’t matter to them enough.
We’ve all gotten ghosted at one point. I don’t understand why so many folks are hung up on it…? There world is HUGE. You have a life to live. Why do you continue to mope a week later after being ghosted? Being ghosted is great because it straight to the point – the person isn’t interested in you, you can move on and never think of them again. Of course there are times when these ghosts resurface with excuses… personally, I send them on their way (or they are blocked). If they did it once, they can do it again.
Look, to be very honest, I will let the guy know if I’m interested in seeing him again after the first or second date. And then move on with my life (aka: ghost) Example: “I had a great time! Hopefully when can get tow there next week!” = I am interested you. “Thank you for the drink. I don’t think we are a good match” = goodbye forever and delete my number because I am not interested in you
I block and delete these guys now because I don’t want to hear excuses or discuss whatever red flags came up. I used to just delete numbers but most of the guys would end up texting/calling even after I’ve made myself clear. But that’s just how I operate. If you’re the kind soul that discusses there red flags and goes into details with people, good on you. Seriously. You do you.
We don’t owe people anything. You can’t control people’s actions and reactions but you sure as hell can control yours. Yes it’s polite to tell people that you’re not interested. But I find it also strange that folks on here ( and real life) mope and complain about being ghosted many days up to weeks later. Shit happens, pick yourself up and walk away.
So for al of you that are upset about being ghosted and it’s been several days… it’s time to move on. 7 billion people on this floating rock. Millions are single. Millions want to find someone. Don’t let an insignificant ghost bring you down and affect your life.
