So, for as long as I can remember, I’ve been the MOST oblivious person to anything having to do with flirting, dating, relationships, or anything. When my last boyfriend began flirting with me (and flirting HARD), I genuinely thought he was just being nice and wanted to be friends. It took a good few (like 5) weeks to finally connect the dots of what was happening, and this always seems to happen.
Unless if it’s something in a chat like on a dating app, I will literally never assume you’re flirting with me. It crosses my mind, but then I go “Nah, why would they want to flirt with me?”
I’m a great person to have a conversation with because I can just talk and talk and my friendships don’t suffer from this, it just seems to be when romance or feelings become involved that my brain just shuts off.
I also just don’t pick up on social cues well from daily conversations because I’m unconsciously scared to face the reality of what that person is saying to me. For example, my last boyfriend and I would fight and he would say something that alluded to us taking a break or breaking up completely and I would just avoid the thought.
I just don’t know how (if it’s even possible) to become more socially aware of what’s going on around me, because I just kind of feel stupid.
Thanks for reading this and following along with a brain dump!
