I’m in my 40s. In my last few dates, guys had more interest in what I have than who I am.
Even the male friend who had known me for more than 10 years, and completely ignored me because of his other jealous female friends, suddenly asked me to marry him as he figured out that I’m well off. He didn’t even bother to spend time and money to it. He just came to my place with two bottles of $5 wines, and suggested me marry him.
I recently dated a guy, and he told me his next relationship goal was “the art of giving space” by Rilke, and asked me to accomplish it with him. After I noticed that he was trying to get in my place, I told him not to bring up my place as a subject. He accused me of not being open to him. I stopped dating him.
One time, I ranted about my frustrations with those guys who were interested in my money. One of the Redditors messaged me and said that he would like to coach me about this matter. We exchanged numbers and talked over the phone every now and again. In those conversations, he claimed that I should invite him to my place because he could make me happy by giving me a great sex every day. He was homeless.
One time, I met a lady in her 50s. She was a widow and very wealthy. When I asked her about her dating life, she told me that she was too busy with taking care of her friends. Once I started talking about my money issue in dating, she told me “then, you know why I don’t want to date.”
Dear 40-something friends. Is it impossible to not consider money in our dating?
