I (21F) have never had a boyfriend. It's not that I haven't been interested in boys, but I just find it very difficult to be vulnerable around them. When I know a guy is interested in me, it's like these sirens go off in my head that says "hold up, you need to overthink everything". I find it hard to be my true self around guys I'm interested in because I'm constantly overanalyzing everything I say and do (Is anyone else like this?). With that being said, during quarantine, I decided to hop on the bandwagon of trying out dating apps and I matched with a 22M back in April. We had a few decently long zoom dates, and then finally met up in person a few weeks later. Things have been going great, and he keeps asking me out every week so I assume he likes me. The thing is, we haven't really had many in-depth conversations yet. Maybe that is because it is still early on and maybe we are both slow to open up to people (I know I am). But I also think that it could be in relation to the fact I don't think he's really into texting. We'll text every couple of days or so to check in on how the other person is doing that day but nothing too in-depth. And not that he is a dry texter, but the conversations don't really last more than a couple hours. With previous guys I have been interested in we talk all day every day, is that a bad thing that this guy and I currently don't? I feel like it does give me my space, and him his, and there's no pressure but it may be preventing us from getting closer? We've kissed but haven't gotten much farther than that, considering I am inexperienced and freaking terrified about doing anything more intimate.
I guess I am worried about the timeline of events. We aren't exclusive and haven't really talked about past relationships (or lack thereof on my part) and we haven't really even told each other how we feel about one another. I like him but I don't know how the feelings differentiate between a friend and something more than that. At least for me, I'm not really sure how it's "suppose" to feel, considering I haven't been in a relationship or in love. I'm kinda just going with the flow and letting what happens, happens. But part of me is worried that I'm wasting his and mine's time, or that there is someone else out there who I am "meant" to be with that's not him. I know I need to just stop overthinking everything and stop trying to live up to other timelines of relationships because, every relationship is different, but it is far easier said than done haha. Do I have an open conversation about all of this and maybe defining the relationship, or should I just keep going on dates and seeing where it goes and let him come to me with how he is feeling? Do I admit to being new to all of this and inexperienced both intimately and emotionally? Or should I just request a refund on my overthinking brain and get a new one haha. (Thank you to anyone who made it this far into reading these paragraphs, I appreciate all of the help I can get!)
