Is he “just not that into” Me?

We are obviously in the middle of a global pandemic. I don’t date. Ever. Super introverted. Happy alone.

Recently a friend gave me the contact of a seemingly solid dude. I trust her judgement. She’s pretty outstanding.

I haven’t met him but we started texting. I understand this is usually a huge no-no prior to meeting because you don’t want to get too invested. The trouble is I can’t always read his tone, and sometimes the things he says seem selfish or condescending. I’m told he has a dry sense of humor so I try to not read into it. The thing is, I just have this feeling he’s not into it. We talk a lot. And connect with humor. Yes sometimes that devolves into very sexual jokes (not exactly sexting but not far removed). And I don’t exactly feel like it’s landing the way I wish it would.

I wish he would ask me to Zoom date. Or even just to go for a walk together. I acknowledge I could ask him. But I feel like I’ve kind of been the one pursuing from the beginning. We go back and forth, but it’d be nice if he would take initiative. I don’t know if I already have my answer and should just trust my gut, or ride it out and see.

How accurate can intuition in a digital age be? I have a lot of trauma as an abuse survivor. So my propensity to project is very high. But I also don’t want to disregard my reality.

Any advice would help.
