Is it “dumb” to wait to have sex?

I’m (24f) currently seeing a guy (26m) who I’ve already had a fling with when I was 19. We’ve only gone on a couple dates recently but I’m just curious on everyone else’s opinions on the matter of having sex. I’ve changed a lot in the last 5 years and even though we’ve already had sex 5 years ago, this time I want to wait and not just immediately jump into that. Is this a dumb mindset to have considering we’ve already been intimate before? Thanks for the advice!
