Is long distance worth it?

I’ve been talking to someone for awhile now. Known them for years, but have been interested for a shorter amount of time. I move a lot and can easily see myself moving to be with them in the future, not right now. I’d obviously want to see how it went first. So is long distance a dumb idea? We both seem to be on the same page. I just wouldn’t move before testing the waters. But I also know long distance is just a whole different dating game in itself, so I guess I’m just looking for some advice
