Is there really a set amount of time one should know someone before inevitably springing up the question wanting to go out on a date?

I’ve received various questions in which people have stated if you want to date, do so after a month or two of knowing one another. Others have said wait a few weeks longer. Others say express it sooner than a month or two.

It’s very frustrating because dating doesn’t really have a guide book on how to approach this type of stuff .
