I’ve been single for a little over three weeks and I’m miserable.

I just turned 24[M] and a little over three weeks ago my relationship with my GF of 3.5 years ended amicably. The pandemic strained our relationship, there was a stretch when I was in quarantine, and afterwards she didn’t want to hang out which was fair, because she lives with immunocompromised people and I had to work because I was an essential worker.

It’s all for the best though, we had a good run, I love her. but I know we can both find partners that we’ll be happier with long term.

This was the first person in life I’d actually consider my partner and I was very happy throughout the entirety of the relationship — through thick and thin knowing that I had a person

I’m not sure what it is, but I just like having someone. And I’m sure you read that and think to yourself “Duh, having a partner is great! That’s not unique at all.”

But now I feel like I have a void in my life, and I’m obsessively trying to fill it, it’s the exact same thing I was trying to do 3.5 years ago. I downloaded Bumble and Tinder and check it like a madman, despite my best efforts, telling myself to stop looking so frequently — I check very regularly.!

I’m yearning for another connection with a girl. AND ITS BEEN LESS THAN A MONTH.

I just quit my job because I’m going back to school in the fall, I have all of this free time and every activity I do that I used to enjoy, something as simple as watching a movie, sucks, because the whole time I’m thinking about the fact that I’m now single and truly alone again.

It’s so fucking melodramatic, I know I’ll find somebody else one day, probably soon. But something in my heart or head just needs the relationship NOW and it’s annoying. I should enjoy myself now that I’m single, I unequivocally know that, but it’s like my body just wont allow it.

Why can’t I just be happy being single for once!

TLDR: Recently became single and am miserable because I want to be in a relationship again for the sake of it.
