Lockdown didn’t want me to ask her out, apparently

Yo people, I've got a little conundrum I want to sort out.

TL;DR I was gonna ask a girl out, but lockdown happened before I got the chance. Some friends recommended I still message her, but I'm not entirely onboard with it. There's this girl in my faculty who I've been thinking of asking out. I know her through our students' association, but I've only had limited interaction with her. Still, she seems to have an interesting personality and I think I feel good chemistry with her.

I was going to ask her to grab coffee or something next time I saw her, but then the pandemic got worse, uni closed down and the province went into lockdown, so… that got nipped in the bud. Of course I just forgot about it.

But then I recently mentionned this in jest to some buddies. To my surprise they unironically recommended I write to her on Facebook, since I've added her as a friend there."What's the worst that could happen" and "Maybe she's bored in quarantine too" all that cliché nonsense.

I feel like it would be overhanded of me and would just make her uncomfortable. Like I said, I don't know her very well in truth, and it's not like I could ask her out for coffee right now. I'd just be randomly putting it on the spot, I think it would be rather inappropriate. Especially after so much time. Still, they insist. What do you think?
