I say it here and it should be an anthem for all the young folks struggling with dating. And maybe it should be an ideological fight as the one for the environment.
Why is it a common thought that dating was easier 2-3-4 years ago? I remember it was very natural for me to enter a relationship, and of course I have been alone for some time(I am 27), but in the past was very frequent that a girl walks the room and we have a good connection and we establish something that is not abusive. Then it end for other reasons, but at least it starts and it is enough long to leave you with some full years behind you, which you can't think of and learn.
The problem is instant gratification. Why is that?
Because we aim at what it is hard just to show ourself that we can get it. Yes, we do. Me and you, the guy or the girl writing here saying "she/he is not answering, should I call him back?" or venting with friends over the phone during quarantine almost going crazy because the other person is not responding properly.
The only girls that open with me are the one that are far from my town, very far.
The girls that I chase are the one that are difficult to get because of a difficult situation. It may be a sister of a person, it may be an ex friend of an ex of mine. Then it happens they are very interesting people with lots in common with me, but still it is instant gratification.
If you get what you want then you lose interest. That may be an answer from a girl, or a date, or a relationship. As soon as one of them answers me positively I lose a bit of interest. If they ghost me I am fucking mad.
We learned it first from Facebook, then from Instagram. You all know how it works, you post a photo, you receive a like, someone may be interested in you, it feels good.
You are interested in someone, you comment them, you receive a positive answer and you repeat with 2 or 3 girls or with that girl. And no deep connection is established.
That's not how it worked 5 years ago. Instagram was something new and it hadn't the time to get to our head.
The post is open to conclusions, suggestions. But I am sure that those social media are ruining ourself and that we are using them to meet people when it's the source itself of our suffering.
