My new boyfriend choked me during sex, should i break up with him?

I know choking is something other people do and it's also in porn, but my boyfriend didn't ask me and now my throat hurts and it's a bit hard to breathe. I'm thinking of going to the doctor and worried it's damaged my health. He said he is deeply sorry and won't do it again. Should i give him a second chance or just end things? Other than that he's loving and wonderful. We're both mid 20s, i'm a girl
