Hey everyone,
So I've (24M) been dating this girl (23F) for 3 months now. We met on Tinder, went on a bunch of dates (like 4 date, made out at end of last 2), then COVID-19 came around, so we went virtual with our dates (1-2 times a week).
The girl is quite shy/closed off. She's told me previously that she's a closed book because its a defence mechanism to feeling vulnerable. Since then we had more dnms and she would joke 'oh look at me, I'm opening up haha'.
Anyway, we text in quite lengthy essays, so it does take us a number of hours to text back. We also have a little convo going on snapchat which can be more frequent at times.
Yesterday, when the girl texted me she mentioned there was a lot going on in her household (she lives with 3 other girls, her housemates) and said she wouldn't get into it. I said thats cool, but I was there for a chat if she needed. She said she was all good and thanked me.
I replied to her text this morning, and we were meant to have our date tonight. She didn't reply all day, until an hour ago saying again that there was still some stuff going on in her household, and she had some work stuff pop up too, so she wont be able to call, and asked if we can postpone to tomorrow.
This kinda hurt me, because I spent all day waiting for her to get back to me, only to postpone at the last minute. It also made it hard to reply to the other stuff in our message as its more fun/flirty/general (I joked about telling my mum about her, and she laughed and said what did she think etc).
I did reply and let her off the hook, and said that it was ok and we'll do tomorrow. My issue is that I'm starting to not feel like much of a priority to her.
Another recent example is Friday night – she was on Facetime to her high school friends, and snapchatted me during the call saying she will reply to me text soon. I eventually fell asleep, and woke up to another snap, where she replied to our previous snapchat conversation and said sorry, she'll reply to my text tomorrow.
I've noticed that I let her off the hook way too much, and don't know how to communicate this, and I question whether I am being unreasonable?
We talk daily (at least 1 long message), and we've exchanged 'I miss you's, and talked about doing things post-quarantine together. We've confirmed that this is not a quarantine boredom thing too. But I dont know if its this girl's inexperience or what it is.
Am I unreasonable for expecting to be a priority? I just feel like shit. I would love to tell her I'm upset, but she seems to have stuff happening and I don't want to pile it up on that.
TLDR: dating a girl for 3 months, and hoping to feel like a priority but I am not?
