I'm a man in my late 20s with an extensive dating history, and I've been with a lot of women (somehow). I'd like to share something I've learned about wasted energy, particularly via feeling insecure about your looks while in a committed relationship.
I'm not a stud. On most days, I can achieve a good 6 or 7, and this is only for women who don't care that I'm 5'7" (for others, I'm not even on their radar, which is totally fine). I think I've reached 8 before with plenty of rest (rare), careful grooming/dressing, dedicated diet for months, etc. It really doesn't matter too much.
Regardless, my girlfriend thinks I'm a perfect 10. Want to know why? Because she loves me. Love isn't this hierarchal arrangement in which you find the absolute most attractive person you can be with. Love is a complex interaction of personality and soul (if you believe in that sort of thing), which transcends physical form.
My point is, if you are with your partner and suddenly feel insecure because there are more objectively attractive members of (the gender(s) your partner is attracted to) nearby, you are hurting yourself for no reason. If your partner has given you a legitimate reason to feel this way, they may not love you.
Don't sabotage love with self-image obsessions.
