I’ve been talking to this girl I matched with online for a couple of days now, we have a lot of common interests, and the conversation has been going pretty good. Long story short, I met her briefly today, and her pics were definitely not a present reflection of her current state. She seemed about 50-60lbs heavier in real life.
This definitely not the first time this has happened to me, but I’m older now, and trying to take a new approach to dating. Is it wrong to just flat out tell someone that you don’t want to date them because they misrepresented themselves? I mean, if I’m looking at cars on marketplace, and make an appointment to go see one, if I get there and it’s nothing like the pictures, I’m leaving without the car. So, why is it so hard to do the same when dating? Why do I naturally feel obligated to continue talking to someone after they’ve done this?
Also, does anyone think it’s a poor reflection of their character? If they are going to deceive you right up front for personal gain, why won’t they do it later? I feel like it’s basically a bait and switch situation, and I’m tired of wasting my time.
Wise words would be appreciated.
