Please stop working on yourself in hopes to be rewarded with a relationship

On twitter today I saw a viral tweet that read something along the lines of "please stop working on yourself in hopes to be rewarded with a relationship." I stopped to think, is this something that I'm doing?

I've improved significantly in the past year, even through the corona virus. I've picked up many healthy habits, and dropped unhealthy ones. I'm feeling great, but I still have a significant amount of growing to do. My main drive to improve is found within myself. I'm doing this for me first, but there is a part of me that values relationships.

I don't expect to be "rewarded" with a relationship at some magical point. I know that a relationship alone wont make me happy, but one of my drives to improve myself is to have better relationships. I want to be the best partner possible so that I can have a family with someone I love.

Is the idea that I want to improve myself with the goal of having a relationship an issue?
