Poverty and dating?

How do you manage to date while making so little? Is it even worth your time?

I am in my mid 30s. My income level is around poverty. My time is restricted by a shifting work schedule. I figure I spend around 12 hours directly and indirectly working when scheduled (from the night before to plan out my work outfit, to preparing in the morning, commuting, unpaid breaks, commuting back, winding down and preparing the next time, etc). No benefits or paid time off. I have no degree.

In my opinion, being (income) poor requires a degree of frugality. Restaurant purchase? No thanks, that costs as much as food for a week! I don't remember the last time I celebrated my birthday, my apartment is bare-bones because I don't spend much time except sleeping and eating, and I don't own a car (public transportation). For the vast majority of women, my life appears (in my perspective) one of the biggest turn offs and so I just feel like I have value to date at all. Or at least that is the narrative I have concluded. It probably is not true.

At times I feel vulnerable and alone. I actively want a romantic relationship but trying to date feels like a nightmare of suppressed desires and economic harshness.

What is your stance on the matter?
