I was dating this guy for a few weeks (facetime dates included). I knew he was a social smoker and that made me uneasy.
However he would also smoke on the dates. On the last date I told him the smoking made me uncomfortable and that I needed to think about whether I'd like to continue seeing him.
I ended things a week ago saying I'm not comfortable dating a smoker, he was respectful about it.
But now I'm wondering, did I overreact? I was wondering if i should have asked for a compromise, like he wouldn't smoke on the dates.
But I guess, really, I wanted him to say he'd quit.
The reason I'm hanging onto him is that, I was really into him and could tell he was also very attracted to me. He had a lot of qualities I was looking for and it's frustrating that his lifestyle habit is what ended things.
Should I forget him or can this situation be salvaged? i.e. Should I message him and talk it out
