Reaching out to an acquaintance?

I met a girl this past semester at college, we exchanged a few words but I didn't think much at the time. I haven't said anything since, especially since this whole pandemic thing has blown up.

Anyways, a friend of mine I've been keeping in touch with briefly mentioned something about her, which got me thinking, and now I can't stop thinking about her. I guess I'm not sure how to reach out without coming off as a total surprise or creepy, since I'd say we're more acquaintances than friends
