Romance is wonderful! But it's important not to be too in your head and be objective about the person you're getting to know. Here are a few important things to keep in mind.
- Office romances are not like the show "the office". They can be fine, or they can be messy. Don't over romanticize the situation because it's a little forbidden or spontaneous. More often than not the person you admire is going to be hard on you and get under your skin, and your potential romance is going to complicate things.
-Chance situations are not "signs". So you happen to be in the same place at the same time. It doesnt mean anything special. The indicators that you are right for each other go way beyond chance situations to similarities and compatibilities in your life goals.
-a hidden soft side is not nearly as good as consistent kindness. I am particularly vulnerable to this myself. People with a hot and cold, sweet and sour behavior draw me in because I grew up in an abusive home and it's all I know. I notice a lot of other people too, are attracted to someone that is a bit unpredictable and emotionally unavailable. We see it a lot in romance movies with the "bad boy" however it's actually a red flag you should avoid if you can. Focus more on people that are consistently warm to you.
