Right guy, wrong time…

Me Current age: 24 Age when I met him: 18 Him Current age: 22 Age when I met him: 16

So I met this guy six years ago. He was 16, I was 18. We both were pretty immature, young, ect.. so it didn't really work out between us..

However, throughout the six years I've known him we've always some how ended up like kissing, flirting, whatever at some point. Never sex though or anything like that. Until he got into a long term relationship and so did I.

He and I were still really close friends and always, always have been. We have the same friends so we've always been around each other. We have so many things in common. We always have the deepest conversations. Truly, he's someone I would do anything for. He's someone I hold near and dear to my heart and always has been.

In the beginning of this year he and I both got out of pretty long term relationships. Both kinda ended because our significant others were very suicidal but would blame us for it, ect. He ended up moving out of his place and moving in with our mutual friends where my recent ex lived. He and I began talking, mainly as friends, but then it became something way more. We kissed, made out, hung out all the time, texted all the time, then eventually has sex multiple times over the course of a month or a month and a half.

He told me that he didn't really want anyone to find out while he was staying there because he was living with my ex and was supposed to move out with another mutual friend soon. He also expressed he didn't want anything too serious anytime soon because he had just gotten out of something.

Eventually my ex moved out and moved back home with his mom because I am the reason they even let him move into that house…but right before that people started asking the guy I had been seeing all the time where he was disappearing to and whatever else. (My ex is now completely out of the picture)

And he started becoming distant with me, stopped really coming over, stopped texting as much.. when I asked him about it all he said was "I'm sorry". Still though, we hung out. Again, we have mutual friends. We hungout all the time. I still to this day have no idea what's going on with us aside from the fact that we hungout a few days ago(lockdown is over don't @ me) and ended up having sex. I'm not entirely sure what's going on because I hear mixed things from everyone around us due to people now kinda knowing and catching on to what's been going on…I just don't really know what to do.

I care about him so much and like him. I can tell he cares about me and has feelings about me as well but it's like he just won't admit it. Everytime we are in a room together it's like it's just us kinda…we talk to each other, goof off with each other, hangout with each other…even if other people are there as well. I can see the way he looks at me. I haven't exactly tried to talk to him about this whole situation in a while because I just didn't wanna push him further away and I'm trying to just respect that he's probably not ready…

Also, another thing to add, he still has to go talk to his ex once he is able to. She literally won't leave his mom's house where they were living until he comes and talks to her. I'm not entirely sure if that has anything to do with it or whatever… But I think it might. I think it could give him some sort of ending that he needs for that so he can move on.

I have never had this type of connection with anyone in my life..

What should I do? Give it space, try to reach out about the situation again? I guess I should add that all of our friends ship us openly. Always have aside from out loud when we were in other relationships.
