Should I call and ask her out straight away or text talk for a bit first?

I’ve only dated one girl and it’s been so long since I’ve done this I honestly don’t know what the norms are now.

I was out shopping for a basketball because I’m getting bored of home workouts and want to get outside. I go up to the cash register and the girl behind it greets me with a smile and we start talking. She asks me about my day and I ask her how her shift is going. I can’t remember exactly what I said but I got her laughing and I don’t know what came over me but I just responded with “damn that’s a really cute laugh, can I get your number?” And she actually gave it to me! I was so internally excited we didn’t even trade names and I left saying “I’ll call you”.

Soooo should I straight up call and ask her out for coffee or something? Or is it more normal to start texting first?
