Should I message her?

Hey,

So I’m not sure if this is the right sub but I’ll post.

I came across a girl from my high school who I used to be best friends with. We were super close throughout, then drifted once we left high school. I never got the courage to pursue things in school, cause I didn’t wanna ruin the friendship l. It’s now a good 5 or so years since we have spoken I guess.

I came across her on hinge which I just joined recently. I am in two minds whether to send a message to her on it and be like ‘hey stranger’ or some shit, or just move forward. I guess I fancy her, and idk I wanna see if she’d even reply to me. I know she is still friendly with girls from the same school who I still see around town, but as I say I haven’t spoke to her in so long so I dunno if it’d be weird. I think I am also scared of the rejection possibility

Just looking for an outsiders perspective on this situation or anyone who’s went and talked to someone after years of not talking
