My girlfriend and I have been doing long-distance for about 8 months of our 11 month relationship. We broke up briefly when she went to Cali for her PhD but talked every day. I genuinely love her, but I really dont know if I want to be with somebody for the rest of my life. My life was awesome before we met, and its not like I expect to get all that back (last year of college), but a lot of what I enjoyed was based on me being independent. That also just included trying (and failing) to get in a relationship, which gave me a sense of purpose even when I failed. That said, I can see how it might be a shallow purpose if I think playing the game is better than winning and moving on.
The main problems we have in our relationship, aside from being long distance, is her eating disorder, anxiety, and depression. I know what its like to have anxiety and depression, and I know that she is constantly going through a lot of stress. That said, she's always doing things that really make things harder for both of us. She obsessively calorie counts everything she eats, she stretches out and ruins her clothes because she thinks she's fat, and she goes into panic attacks over very small things. Yesterday she had a panic attack while driving on a mountain because there were cyclists hogging the road. I was halfway through breaking up with her a couple months ago but turned around halfway through because I was worried something would happen to her.
I feel like I answered my own question, but I also think I didn't sell the positives in our relationship. Our chemistry is perfect and we have everything in common. I genuinely love her. That said, should I break up with her?
