Some thoughts on being a 22F virgin.

I (22F) am still a virgin. I could have lost my virginity if I wanted to, but it just hasn't felt like the right time. I never signed a "chastity pledge" or anything like that, I just want my first time to be with someone special, and I haven't met that someone yet. I'll admit that I was self-conscious about it in high school when most of my friends were getting boyfriends and losing the v-card but I was still single. Even now, some of my friends have made fun of me for it, but I've made it clear that it's my choice and I want to lose it to the right guy. There's nothing wrong with waiting, even if it's not by choice. If your friends shame you for being a virgin, then they're all losers and assholes and you need to get better friends.

There have been two guys who were virgins that I started dating, and instead of having an open and honest conversation about our expectations, they started pressuring me for sex. I told them that I wasn't comfortable with that, and any relationship we had fizzled out sooner or later because it was clear that we never had a real connection. Both of them just seemed really desperate and hoped that if they impressed me enough, they might get in my pants… eventually. It's really turned off to dating in general because I just hate being treated like some kind of sexual accomplishment. Like I'm just playing hard to get or something, and the guy who takes my virginity gets ultimate bragging rights or whatever because I've rejected all others. Does that make sense? I just want to hear your thoughts on virginity and sexual conquest.
