Struggling with being ghosted after 7 months

Back in November I [28F] met this guy [30] on one of the dating apps. Things were going really great and I fell hard for him. First person in years I felt such a strong connection with. Back in March, he left the city to go to his hometown (about 2 hours) away for quarantine.

We kept in touch everyday and found ways to keep things interesting. He only came back to the city once or twice to grab things from his office but never made an effort to meet up. Since mid-April we were trying to plan a meetup but it was just excuse after excuse with him offering another specific day a week later. I figured I'd try one more time to meet up. A couple weeks ago he said he would be back in the city and we made plans for a specific day. He said he would absolutely let me know what time he was back. I texted him the night of asking him if he was still good for the day and I would cook dinner. No response.

I messaged a week later checking in and no response. He's been active on social media and still views all my snapchat and instagram stories. Why bother viewing them if you aren't going to text me. I'm not going to reach out again. I felt things were fizzling but would rather hear something than nothing. It really hurts after all this time. I feel awful and have had a hard time keeping my head up. I know things will get harder too once he's back in the city and not 2 hours away. Has this happened to anyone? How did you handle this? It's my first experience and it sucks so much I just want to cry
