Talked to a guy for the past three months during quarantine. Went on a date and it was awkward? Should I message him or leave it be?

Hi I don’t frequent this sub often so I’m not sure if this is the right place. Just looking for advice. I (23f) Met someone (23m) on a dating app and we hit it off well online, spent four months consistently talking to each other and had some great and meaningful conversations. Also swapped pictures on a regular basis. We even talked about how excited we were to meet each other. And we could also talk about how we could potentially become something serious after how great our conversations have been. However, once we met in person it, it ended up being very awkward, where our conversations would lull and began to feel uncomfortable. It wasn’t a bad date but it was one where I couldn’t discern if it was something I wanted to continue. Once the date ended, I sent a small text saying it was nice meeting him and he thanked me as well but neither of us mentioned wanting a second date, which I’m not hurt by. We still watch each other’s stories in passing. But considering the amount of time we spent talking to eachother I feel bad just leaving things awkwardly since I still think he’s a nice person. How do I proceed with this?
