Texted a coworker if they wanted to go out/hang but no answer.

To give some background, I (male) had an eye out for this co-worker (female) for abit. I know i have some bad communication skills I don’t know how to vocally get my point across and suck at expressing things as well and I am abit awkward at times due to events in my past but i tend to learn and get better. I hate texting and I feel as if I can never get what I’m trying to say as I would personally. From experience and from others I’m a good people person, funny and a jokester and I feel I am better with ppl personally than through the phone.

So this co-worker I like started awhile back but I never got to talk to them due to our schedules and the positions we work. Due to corona I was able to talk to them and actually get to know them abit. We have just bit in common from talking to. not much personal stuff but we always joke around when we see each other. Few weeks ago decided to get the courage to ask them if they were single, talking to anyone etc. They did a little smile and glanced away and said that they were kinda talking to someone. So I said cool that’s fine and asked them, that we could still hang out. They agreed and nodded.

Last week after having barely any days to work I got pretty confident in myself. after a friend was hyping me up and telling me I could still have a chance. I decided to go talk to them again and completely forgot I asked already if they were single or had a SO. After I asked them and immediately realizing I already told them this, they reply that it is kinda”complicated”. then proceeds to give me there phone to type my number. After I gave them my number I told them since it’s getting warm outside that we could go do something outdoorsy or just enjoy the weather. After what they told me I kinda lost confidence especially after not giving them my number and proceeded to give up. But after I was clocking out for work I decided to say screw it and walked up to get there number since I forgot to ask for it.

I texted them over the weekend we chatted for just abit before they share their whole contact info with me thru iMessage. I then decided to message them the next day and I get a reply back instantly but when I brought up if they were free this week or next week to go to the museum or walk the trials at the open park they leave me on read with no answer.

I know it was a stretch when they gave me vague answers about being in a relationship but did I waste my time? Or should I still try? And what should I do since there hasn’t been reply back? Is it better to just to see them at work and just ask them directly or will that be to wierd for bringing it up again?
