So about three days ago I had the idea to summit a mountain, which I have been wanting to do for a while now (the peak is 6.5k ft high).
I [23/M] went on a date a month ago with this girl [23/F] she brought acid, and we had a great trip hiking/tripping and we clicked very well. She told me she had a great time and couldn’t wait for our next adventure.
She moved back to her home state due to COVID, but is back in my state now and let me know that she moved back and wanted to go on another hike soon.
I invited her to the summit with me, and she seemed pretty excited. I bought all of this gear, packed snacks, lunches, extra things, etc., and was psyched to go (this was yesterday). Around 7PM, she told me that she forgot she had an interview for “this bullshit thing she applied to”, and that she could do any other day this week and she was so sorry to cancel at the last minute. I said it was no stress and that Wednesday seemed like it would be good weather-wise. She agreed to it and that was that.
This morning she sent me a funny meme and we talked for a bit. Later today I hit her back up and asked how her interview went. She started typing and then left me on read.
Am I overthinking this or was the interview maybe an excuse not to go? Like I said, we planned to go to the mountain on Wednesday but I don’t want to psych myself up all over again just to be let down if she flakes yet another time.
tl;dr –
Girl I started seeing flaked on our plans last minute even though she seemed excited to go because she said she had an interview she forgot about. Today I asked her how the interview went and she left me on read. We rescheduled the plans to Wednesday but I don’t want to get all excited again for nothing.
