The guy I went on a couple of dates with came back after one year. He complimented me, said he wanted to fix things and wants to meet me. Now he just ghosted me?! Why would he embarrass himself so much?

Back then it didnt work out because it was long distance. He contacted me because he is now near me located. But I don’t get it why someone would make himself look so stupid.
