I’ve been OLD more frequently recently. I took a pretty long break from it because I was seeing someone but have restarted it more seriously in quarantine. I think everyone respected social distancing during the earlier days of the pandemic but I’m in a city where there are still some cases. I know many people are getting more lax about these restrictions and I think that people have started going on dates more now in person…
I work with a very frail and elderly population as a health care professional everyday. I’m not comfortable with meeting new people or being in close proximity (I still think the 6ft rule is a guideline and is not 100% effective). I think this frustrates people who I speak to online but I could not live with myself if I made my patients sick because I went on a date with a stranger who is being risky.
I also feel like I have an added layer of judgment now to people I speak to online based on how seriously they’re taking the pandemic and distancing which adds a whole other layer to OLD.
How are people navigating this as cases decrease (for now)? And I’m curious if others are judging people for being too lax about distancing or am I being crazy?
