The worst thing about having a crush…

I don't know about you guys, but I rarely fall for people. But in my 23 years on this planet, I've noticed when I crush on someone it tends to be a combination of me finding them attractive (but also knowing they like me). The second part is crucial as it's what takes a basic attraction and turns it into a full-blown crush for me.

For example, a few months ago, I noticed this cute girl filling the shelves at the grocery store I work at. She caught my eye immediately. But I didn't have a crush on her. I just thought she was attractive.

Since we didn't work in the same departments, and I didn't want to disrupt her while she was working, I began to just try and walk past her frequently in the hopes she'd become accustomed to seeing me around a lot and we'd eventually chance into an interaction. But my plan was an incredible flop. She seemed completely unaware of me. So I just shrugged it off and forgot about her.

Fast-forward to a week ago. I was out of my department because a customer had asked me to direct him to the aisle with the toothpicks (I had no idea). So I started randomly searching aisles until I bumped into two shelf fillers working off a cage together (one was the girl). I politely interjected their conversation to ask for directions. The girl just stood there with her jaw dropped staring at me. So I turned to the guy and he pointed me in the right direction. I thanked the both of them and smiled and went on my way.

Half an hour later, for the first time ever, the same girl came down to my department and sought me out. And began asking me if I was new here and kept giving me this cheeky and mischievous smile. I'm not new at all so I thought it was weird she was asking… So I asked her why. And she said ''Oh, hehe, it's just… I've just never seen you around here before (:''.

(I'm sure there's a lot of co-workers here who she doesn't see around so it seemed like an odd thing to assume I'm new especially when she's only been here a few months). But she was blushing the entire time and hiding her face in her hands. But she seemed really interested in me and kept asking all about me. I found out that she moved to this town about 4 months ago.

Anyway, the girl I was rostered on with in my department was getting annoyed that this girl was getting along so well with me. So she interrupted our conversation and asked if she could borrow me for a moment. The cute girl looked over at her and then at me and gave me another cheeky smile and said ''I guess I'll see you around sometime… (:''. And then walked off.

I came out of the interaction strongly convinced this girl might have a bit of a crush on me… And it's kind of triggered a bit of a crush for me. Seeing her get so embarrassed around me was really endearing. And now I keep finding myself thinking about her.

The thing is: It's been a week since she came and sought me out. She keeps hovering around my department all of a sudden (but she doesn't speak to me). Just walks past a lot.

I'm not sure if she's interested and just shy… Or if she's uninterested. And I'm not sure how to get to know her.
