This girl likes me, but doesn’t want to talk as much anymore?

I’ve been talking to this girl for two months now. We had an intense fling for a month last year, that ended because she ghosted me for her ex. She ended up reaching out again before COVID-19 got in full swing and said she was done with her ex and wanted to give things another go.

It was just as intense as the last time, she was texting me everyday and FaceTiming me every night. She drove down to see me, and she was being really flirty. I ended up going to visit her too, because she kept asking. Ever since then, she started getting more distant. We weren’t talking daily, didn’t FaceTime unless I asked, and she was being kinda boring over text.

I asked her what was going on and she said that while she definitely wanted to keep things between us going, she just felt that things were getting a little serious, and that she wanted to pull back and get space. I’m confused because I wasn’t the one initiating any of this, I was literally just matching her energy?

We’ve barely talked all week, but she has reached out a couple times. My question is how should I approach this from now on? And is she really still down for things to continue or is she trying to let me off easy? I literally do not care if we date, I just want things to go back to how they were. I like talking to her, and I miss that. I’m sick of the hot and cold.

For context she hasn’t been single in two years, and her ex was a major piece of shit so I understand why she freaked out and why she wants to be single.
