Venting. Advice. Another Ghosted Story

So I met this girl through my work 3 years ago shortly before I quit. I liked her vibe and everything about her which is rare for me, so we exchanged contact info. We chatted for a month, really fluid and connected conversation. I was elated to say the least. Here was someone who was finally mutually interested in me! She did tell me that I am not her type but I have amazing energy and she's gravitated towards me. I never got the sense of that being a dealbreaker. Hell, I've seen some odd couples together. After scheduling a time and place to meet up and connect more in person, she flakes. Completely falls off the face of the earth.

Before I move forward, I would like to add that I have been the victim of ghosting, flaking and friend-zoning for 3 consecutive years. Some of this due to my relaxed personality and some due to being shit on by life. I've hardened my resolve, spirit and sense of self since then, becoming a hard shell to crack. But with this girl, I was already vulnerable at first sight because there was some "history".

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago. We match on Tinder spontaneously (fate or the universe's sick sense of humor?). I honestly didn't recognize her due to her new look but she did me. So we chatted and conversation flowed. She gave me her number after a few days, again fluid texting and really connecting. She explained she was going through a rough patch 3 years ago and disconnected from everyone, so I give her the benefit of the doubt. People change right? HAHA!

During our correspondence, she sends me pictures of herself by the pool, in workout clothes, etc. along with prompt, courteous responses. We've fantasized about dates for when places open and even planned for a casual meetup in the area. I tried to work around her schedule but she insisted on getting my days off. So I tell her, hoping to get a response like "yeah Saturday night works" or "great, see you at the beach on Friday", she doesn't acknowledge it. I let it slide but I know what's coming.

Since Monday, things have felt weird. I know this feeling all too well. So I gave it a day then try to re-connect. Very little input on her part so I left it alone. I get a good morning text on Wednesday followed by a selfie and conversation, immediately lifting my spirits. NOTE: I am aware of the self-destructive emotional behavior but as I said, I was vulnerable with her from the start. Absolutely no effort until Friday. As a last ditch effort and to see if she really was checked out, I asked to join me for a walk at the park. Her response "maybe, I have to see how the day goes". That's just as bad as hearing, "I'll let you know". At that moment, I knew whatever we have or were going to have was burned to the ground. No follow up. No reschedule. No respect.

History continues to repeat itself for me. And I am becoming old and fatigued and jaded by the patterns of life and people. I have been broke, almost homeless this year and worse off since COVID. I cherished that tiny happy moment of talking with her and it took my mind off my struggles, I was hopeful. I am really good at deleting people from my world, but it takes time. I just want to share this with someone, as a means of connecting and getting it off my chest.
