Someone I had been dating/talking to went completely cold turkey with texts, and even unfollowed me on social media. It started off with him saying he was dealing with something personal and would talk about it when he felt ready, but wants to cope by being alone.
Well, “being alone dealing with something“ translated into posting stories and pictures of places he’s going to, cooking, hiking etc. It may have been out of place for me to say this to him, but I decided to let him know how this was all making me feel like he wasn’t being truthful about going through something and was pushing me away, and he should be upfront with his intentions. No response, not even left on read. He actually went completely silent on Instagram (where we communicated) and I saw that he unfollowed me. Don’t know what the intention behind that was.
I didn’t want to wait any longer or deal with the nonsense, so I decided to stop caring and tried to move on. Fast forward a while later, I went back to dating apps and went out on a date with another guy. When I got home, I saw that the past guy actually messaged me, saying that he saw me out in public. He seemed angry that I moved on so quickly and told me I added more stress to what he’s already going through. He was also hurt that I would think to move on and that I was “selfish for not considering that he was keeping to himself because he was in pain.”
I was in disbelief so I didn’t answer, but how I feel is that he was the one who behaved as if he ghosted me. What else was I supposed to interpret from him becoming more active online yet ignoring something I needed to say to him? I left one message detailing how I felt, but it was left unopened. His next course of action was to unfollow me instead. Wtf was he trying to accomplish at all?
