I'm 22F, senior biology major in college and I'd consider myself a solid 7/10. My girl friends tell me I'm higher but personally I don't see it, but whatever I lack in looks I know I can make up for in personality. I know I'm interesting, I can hold a conversation about anything, etc etc.
I met this guy last year on tinder and he was a year younger than me and a solid 10, absolutely perfect in my books. Conventionally attractive, intelligent (another bio major), funny, and seemed to click with me. It didn't work out the first time around due to, yknow, life. Shit happened with school and distance was an issue, so we stopped talking.
A little over a year later, we match again. We hit it off right back to where we left off and it was awesome, we both seemed to mature a little bit and change for the better in the year span. I wasn't sure if he wanted a real relationship or just wanted to be FWB, but I was down with either option. We hung out a few times, nothing physical happened. I noticed that when we hung out in person, something wasn't right. We lacked the connection we had over the phone or via text and in person it was very tense and awkward, I never felt like myself. Almost like…walking on eggshells. There was zero chemistry in person. Sure, I'd ride his face no issue, but this wasn't a person I could see just laying in bed watching house hunters with, yknow?
We saw each other the other day for a dinner date. It was more of the same awkward tension. He seemed like he didn't want to be there, but he drove an hour just to get dinner for an hour and a half. It was very strange. I knew by now that he didn't want a relationship or sex, so what did he want?
Then I realized, this man isn't worth it. Sure, he's the most beautiful specimen I've ever laid eyes on, but something, whether it be pheromones or chemistry, was not clicking. We've texted every single day since early March. Today, I left him on read and told myself if he really cares, he'll come through again.
Basically, the point of this post is that no one is worth getting hung up on. I later realized that he had no specific interests besides being in a fraternity, was kind of racist, had a giant ego, made me pay for dinner despite not having a job rn (& didn't say thank you), and wasn't all that intelligent despite claiming to be pre-med.
Take off your rose-tinted glasses, kings and queens. That is all.
