Went on my first first-date is 4 years last night and it was such a good time

This might be the wrong subreddit for this but I am going to be honest, I never really know what the right one is for most things

TLDR: went on a date with a boy who was in town just for vacation with no expectations and it was an incredible night. Plan on visiting him this summer during a solo road trip

To preface: I just got out of a long term relationship about 4 months ago. Moved out of our apartment in Orlando and got a place in Sarasota by the beach. I don’t know anyone here and with the pandemic, meeting people has been impossible. I haven’t been on a first date in over 4 years and so I did what every other person does in that situation and downloaded tinder. Matched with the cute boy who was visiting family for the week. We talked for one night and decided to meet up last night (which for me is surprising because I’m not the type of person to do anything spontaneous like meeting a boy on tinder especially after only talking for a couple hours)

But I thought what the hell, this would be good practice because he’s only here for the week and I could use a fun and social night out for once. We met up at a really cool park that wraps around the Sarasota bay and grabbed dinner, walked around and talked about life, watched the most beautiful sunset together, and then skated the park after it cooled down. Almost 5 hours went by and I didn’t even realize. It was such an amazing night and we’re making plans now for me to go visit him in Birmingham when I do a solo road trip this summer. I had no expectations going into anything and it ended up being one of the best “first dates” I’ve ever been on — even if the only thing to come out of it is a super cool friendship

(also he told me that he was glad he spent his last night in Florida with me and that it was the best part of his trip and my entire heart melted)
