What do men want to hear?

I’m so confused I’m trying to not have expectations when going into a relationship/dating, thinking that’s why my last one ended. But a guy just got mad cause he accused me of just wanting free dinner. Which he now thinks I should pay for. I’m blessed to be asked on a date but I’m confused. Do they want me to tell them I’m looking for a serious relationship, marriage, kids, mortgage and a business. Men like that I’m self assured and confident but men also find it intimating. I’m so confused
