From my point of view, “confidence” is the biggest cop out in terms of dating advice. Most confident people are confident because they are attractive in other ways and therefore have been built up by others. This “confidence” comes from the fact that success has been given to them.
Take me as another example. I have never had any success in dating. No woman has ever shown any amount of interest in me. Therefore, I am not confident in my attractiveness. However, I have been told to stay confident anyway. I have no reason to be confident, but every reason not to be. How many times would you have to crash your car before you admit that you’re a bad driver?
