What’s the point of girls leading on guys..

I (27M) met this girl (26F) on Hinge. We both live in NYC. She is beautiful, cool, career-driven, ect – basically the whole package. We chatted on the app and met for drinks which went well and we kissed that night. Subsequently, we met for drinks 2 other times in the span of a 1.5months. Both times we met things were awesome – we had great chemistry and would constantly be touching each other and making out here and there.

Now after those dates we tried to schedule a dinner date but both times she had to reschedule and it never matriculated given we ran up against COVID and both left the city for suburbia.

Now on those previous dates she had said she hadn't really ever had a bf before. Claimed that it never really happened for her. I found this somewhat strange given what a catch she is. Also, she said she just ended things with a guy she was dating for the last 9 months – said he was too "self-indulgent".

She is someone who is totally different over text vs in person. In text she has such minimal messages and doesn't really open up – only does the "how's the day" & "hahah" even when i ask lots of questions she just sorta ignores them. In person she is fantastic!

Since first going for drinks its been 5 months. 3 of which are solely text and phone calls. Sometimes she is so lovey dovey on text – saying things like "hi handsome" or "i love that about you" or "miss you" or "i want to cuddle w you" ect….she even said she's told her sister and friends about me.

Recently though we had plans to meet up which she cancelled last minute. She is someone i expect to temper expectations to actually see in person cuz of how flakey she is.

My friends think she is just leading me on and just likes my attention but I just have a hard time believing this – why would she do that for this long? Like what's the point. For guys the end goal is always to have sex but for girls what's the point especially if you're a catch like her – like why lead a guy on?

Oh also, checked Hinge recently after my doubts and saw that she updated her bio stuff a little…why is she still texting me if she's clearly still on hinge actively…?
