When and where to move a conversation off app?

Corona has got me staying inside and not being out and about meeting people. So I’ve redownload all of the OD apps and met a few people. I have no idea what the female perspective is here. For me, after like 10-15 messages I can get a feel as to whether I’m interested or not. I’m pretty much down to get coffee or lunch at that point. Texting is not my thing and it’s where conversations die. Not sure what the case is with most women but I’ve heard from one that they’re willing to text for over a month without meeting in person. Obviously things are different now because of covid and it’s moving to virtual dates. My last time on OD, it was about 50/50 whether people would want to meet up or FaceTime. I’m 0/3 for the time being now.

I’m willing to go along with the whole texting thing for a week or two if that’s what makes them feel more comfortable. But I want to make the switch from dating app to snapchat/texting within the first day or two. Notifications aren’t super reliable on them. Most importantly, moving off app sets a different environment for the conversation. When you’re messaging on the app, you see all your other matches and profiles on the homepage.

First problem I’m having is judging when to move the conversation off app and how to phrase it. Most of the time I put a complaint about how the app makes me miss notifications and then my number. I think it’s kind of awkward to ask to text that way. Sometimes I’ll just ask for their snap if their pictures aren’t super clear. Maybe once or twice I’ve had the other person reach out to me first about it.

Second problem is which platform to move to. Texting has very reliable notifications, the messages don’t disappear there, and it can usually can lead to FaceTime. But Snapchat can be preferable because it’s more anonymous, you get to see their face, and there’s also video calling here.

Also for ages. I’m 23m and most people I talk to are about 20 to 24f.
